Assemblies will never be the same again at this school
School children and members of an East Riding community will benefit from state-of-the-art technology, thanks to PDS.
We have installed an audio visual projector and electric screen at Skidby Primary School, which covers a huge section of the wall space in the school hall. Headteacher Steve Honey says it's a facility which has changed assemblies as we know them. The screen – which is 2.5 metres high by three metres wide – is used for projecting hymn words onto, as well as presentations to parents and school governors. Part funded by a government initiative called Capital Projects, the new screen will eventually be a tool which residents from Skidby can use on evenings and weekends too.
Mr Honey said: "The screen and projector is an incredible piece of technology. This represents a significant investment for the school, but the facility will be well used by both pupils, teachers, parents, governors and members of the local community alike. "It enables us to deliver information to the children in new and interesting ways and has already proved very popular with them during assemblies and special presentations. PDS has done a fantastic job both before and after installation."
PDS is no stranger to installing and maintaining such high tech educational equipment and is rapidly gaining a national reputation for this kind of work. Glen Davis, the new engineering and projects director at PDS, said: "Technology develops at such a rapid rate, that it's imperative to children's development that an understanding of technology is gained at an early stage in their lives. "Methods of learning delivered and driven through new and exiting means can only enhance children's capabilities in realising the increasing potential for learning and creativity."
