Our remit was to supply and install a CCTV/2 way hands free intercom system to enable the lorry drivers to be seen by and communicate with the remote check in office. The system had to operate from three security barriers, each one wired back to the check in office. 2No. CCTV cameras and intercom unit had to be installed into metal posts at a set height at each barrier to allow the lorry driver to reach the communication push button and activate the 2 way hands free intercom system. Pressing the push button also operated the cameras allowing the office to see driver from one camera and his lorry on the second camera for identification purposes.
The problem was that the above system was not available from any manufacturers. To solve this Galloway Electronics designed and built a 3 way hands free intercom/CCTV system to satisfy the clients specifications.
The above systems were integrated into a main console housing the barrier and canopy lighting switches. This console was also designed and built by Galloway Electronics. The information from the CCTV cameras was displayed on monitors mounted on top of the main console.
